Check Orientations

Importance of orientations

With a radial diffraction experiment, you will look at texture and stresses, i.e. variations of diffraction intensities with orientations. Therefore, care should be taken in making sure that orientations are correct in MAUD.

In my experiments, I usually have my diffraction images in a way that the compression direction (the diamonds) correspond to delta=0 in Fit2d and we have to make sure that MAUD knows that this direction is parallel to the compression.

Setting orientations in MAUD

Before you finish your calibration, you should make sure that the orientations you use are correct. Since this can become very tricky, I wrote it out in a separate section: Define The Compression Direction. Make sure you have this right or you'll run into trouble later on.
